Governance and Data ManagementGovernance1.0Please detail sustainability goals and targets (e.g. GHG reductions) that are incorporated into your city’s master plan and describe how these are addressed in the table below.2Description2The city has a target of 100% renewable electricity supply by 2030. This target includes the aim to create a renewable energy supply that meets the resiliency and reliability need of the community, while ensuring unburdened access to such energy. Rather than a “master plan”, the City of Boulder continuously works to provide service excellence for an inspired future through the city’s guiding document, the Sustainability + Resilience Framework (https://www-static.bouldercolorado.gov/docs/Sustainability_+_Resilience_Framework-1-201811061047.pdf?_ga=2.124204426.1478023814.1597851984-1574387879.1547507209), which guides budgeting and planning processes for the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan (https://bouldercolorado.gov/services/boulder-valley-comprehensive-plan) and through all city departmental strategic and master plans. The framework provides consistent goals necessary to achieve Boulder’s vision of a great community and the actions required to achieve them including goals specific to climate change, as referenced in the Environmentally Sustainable section. These goals are further defined in the city’s Comprehensive Plan in Section 3 and Section 4 (https://bouldercolorado.gov/media/3350/download?inline). The structure is available through this graphic: https://work-static.bouldercolorado.gov/docs/S+R_framework_Finance-1-201902221312.jpg. The goals and targets are further integrated into all other city-wide-master plans and subcommunity plans.01/20/2022 02:27:05

361636Cities 2021202154088City of Peterborough, ONCanadaNorth America1. Governance and Data ManagementGovernance1.7Please provide information specifically on the impact of the COVID-19 economic response on climate action in your city and synergies between COVID-19 recovery interventions and climate action.3Explanation1ResponseDuring the pandemic the City of Peterborough continued funding mitigation and adaptation actions despite the extraordinary financial burden placed upon the municipality. The Climate Change Reserve fund retained its annual funding ($426,400 CDN) levied from property taxes. The City also hired a permanent full-time climate change coordinator in January 2021 to maintain climate change momentum despite a general pause in hiring. As a precautionary measure to reduce Covid-19 cases in Peterborough, a temporary network of protected bike lanes were installed in the downtown core. The temporary bike lanes were removed in Fall 2020 and reverted back to vehicle-bike road sharing. However, the bollards used to delineate the bike lane were redeployed to other sections of existing bike lane infrastructure that needed a boost in bike lane visibility and lane protection.01/20/2022 02:27:05
