Water SecurityWater Supply Management14.3Please select the actions you are taking to reduce the risks to your city’s water security.4Action description and implementation progress2The Environmental Awareness Programme have been ongoing for more than 10 years. Each year the department celebrates environmental days according to the environmental calendar which focuses on Sustainable Development Goals. These events are usually celebrated at schools and through community talks, focusing on a specific topic such as Wetlands, Arbor Month, Water Week, International Coastal Cleanup, Marine Week. These events are celebrated through Talks, PowerPoint Presentations and fun, education field excursions. The Environmental Management Department collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to reach as many community members, youth and leaders as possible. We also focus on combating illegal dumping sites near/in watercourses through our community outreach Programme which organises clean ups and community meetings in partnership with district environmental health officials and our solid waste department. As the world deals with the ongoing COVID -19 pandemic there have been innovative ways used to reach out to the community and raise awareness on e.g. the plight of our oceans and coastline. A short video was made at the end of 2020 on “Nurdles awareness” that has been shared to the Municipality’s social media platforms. The video did not only educate the Greater Knysna residents but also the nation.01/20/2022 02:27:05

Transport10.5aPlease provide more details about the low or zero-emissions zone and/or restrictions on high polluting vehicles that cover a significant part of the city.2Stipulations and any plans to expand1Please completeThe City of Santa Monica was selected by the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) to be the host community for the Zero Emission Delivery Zone (ZEDZ) pilot program in April 2020. This pilot program was designed by the Transportation Electrification Partnership (of which Santa Monica is a member) to create a scalable model for electrifying light- and medium-duty deliveries in urban areas, and test various zero emission delivery technologies and supporting infrastructure. The pilot program aligns with the City’s goal to reduce pollution and congestion from the transportation sector, as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions as outlined in the Council-adopted Climate Action & Adaptation and EV Action plans. The ZEDZ is a roughly one-square mile area encompassing Downtown Santa Monica, Main Street, and the Ocean Park neighborhood. LACI and the City have partnered with thirteen delivery, technology, and data analytics companies to test a wide range of urban delivery solutions in the ZEDZ area including small and large electric vans/trucks, an EV truck rental platform, e-cargo bikes, e-scooters, and remote control delivery vehicles (delivery robots). The pilot program includes eleven priority access curbside EV-only loading zones in Downtown Santa Monica and along Main Street that are being monitored and analyzed with video technology provided by a Los Angeles-based company called Automotus.01/20/2022 02:27:05
