Incorporated in 1704, it is one of Montgomery County’s (Montco) oldest communities, the second most populated Montco municipality, which is the Commonwealth's third highest inhabited county. Established in 1704, the Township is of the first class and a first- ring suburb of Philadelphia with over 55,000 residents. Known for accessibility, affordability and diverse neighborhoods, the Township has thriving residential and business communities that made the Township a desirable location to live, work and play. Within its 15 square mile area, are over 25 public parks, three bird and wildlife sanctuaries, and a large county park.
