113631Cities 2021202158564Chiayi City GovernmentTaiwan, Greater ChinaEast Asia0. Introduction0.1Please give a general description and introduction to your city including your city’s reporting boundary in the table below.2Description of city1Please complete1、Geographical LocationChiayi City is located at the northern end of the "Jianan Plain" in southwestern Taiwan. It is 15.8 kilometers wide from east to west , 10.5 kilometers long from north to south , and covers an area of 60.0256 square kilometers. It is the smallest city in Taiwan main island with the smallest land area, and it is also one of the few counties that are not adjacent to the sea. The whole city is in the north of the Tropic of Cancer. Except for the hilly area in the east, the rest is all plain, and the terrain descends slowly from east to west . Surrounded by Chiayi County, the ancient name "Zhuluoshan" is derived from the transliteration of the name of the Hongya tribe, the aboriginal people of the Pingpu tribe, and is also known as "Peach City" because of the listing of the eastern mountains in Chiayi. The ancient city built during the Qing Dynasty was shaped like a peach so that’s how the name was derived.2、Climatewinter is dry season, dominated by the northeast monsoon; the southwest wind prevails in summer, and the wind is gentle, and due to high temperature and strong convection, there are often thunderstorms in the afternoon.3、PopulationAdministrative Region is divided into East, West two districts, a total of 84 towns, and till 2020, the total number of the population is 266,005 people.4、Local economic characteristicsThe characteristic of Chiayi City is an urban city; the industrial activity is higher than the commercial industry. Up to 2020, the city's business registration number is 13,206 units, industrial registration number 403 units, higher than industrial registration number by 33 times. Chiayi City area is 60.0256 square kilometers. The area is narrow and densely populated, which is not conducive to the development of heavy-duty industries with high pollution. There are no industrial zones within its jurisdiction. Most industries are stationed in designated industrial zones in neighboring counties and cities. In terms of industrial development, tertiary industries such as commerce and service are more developed.01/19/2022 02:30:06
