O Recife conta com uma população estimada de 1.653.461 habitantes, para o ano de 2020, distribuída em um território de 218,84 km². Localizada no domínio do Bioma Mata Atlântica, a cidade tem aproximadamente 38% do seu território protegido por Unidades de Conservação da Natureza (lei 18.014/2014 - Sistema Municipal de Unidades Protegidas – SMUP). O município combina em sua geografia: baixa altitude média em relação ao nível do mar (4 metros); uma malha hídrica com mais de 70 canais; lençol freático próximo à superfície e aflorante na estação chuvosa; planícies densamente ocupadas justapostas com áreas de morros. O clima é tropical úmido com média de temperatura no verão próxima aos 30°C. O índice pluviométrico é superior a 2.000 milímetros (mm) anuais, com maior nível de concentração de chuvas entre os meses de abril e julho (INPE, 2020). Recife possui a terceira maior economia do Nordeste do país, atrás apenas das cidades de Salvador e Fortaleza. Apresentou em 2017, um PIB de R$ 51,86 bilhões representando 28,6% na economia estadual (IBGE, 2020). As atividades econômicas com maior destaque no município são as atividades de construção civil, saúde privada e serviços de alimentação, sendo também um polo estadual de comércio atacadista. A população do Recife cresceu 0,73% ao ano na última década, taxa menor que a de Pernambuco (0,90 %) e da Região Metropolitana (0,87%) (IBGE, 2020). A cidade apresenta uma diminuição no ritmo de crescimento com relação à década anterior, confirmando a tendência de redução da velocidade de aumento populacional iniciada no final dos anos 60 em nível nacional, e na década de 80 na Região Metropolitana do Recife. Apesar de ocupar posição de destaque na economia estadual e regional, a cidade tem ainda grandes desafios sociais, econômicos e ambientais a serem resolvidos que tornam o enfrentamento aos impactos da mudança do clima ainda mais desafiadores. This dataset contains a subset of the related full cities dataset, covering Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Action questions for publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
