The City of Madison is expanding upon these efforts with the creation of a "Madison Public Market" to be finished in 2021. Second, the City of Madison has a Food Policy Council in the Mayor's Office, which is the "main public body that develops and recommends policies to the Mayor and Common Council to support [Madison's food system], and endorses efforts to do the same at the national level." Third, the City of Madison is home to numerous organizations working to promote sustainable food businesses within the City. These organizations include the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a sustainable agriculture research center; FairShare CSA Coalition, a program that allows residents to buy local food directly from a farmer by purchasing a "share" and becoming a farm "member;" and REAP Food Group, whose mission is to "grow a healthful, just, and sustainable local food system -- meaning good food, grown well is accessible to all" and participates in numerous "Farm to School," "Farm to Business," and "Farm to Table" programs. | 01/20/2022 02:27:05 | |||
