Se considera la puerta de Nuevo León y se localiza a 20 kilómetros de la capital del estado.El 54% del territorio es clima seco a semicálido, la temperatura anual en verano alcanza los 34 grados centígrados. y las lluvias se presentan en los meses de julio a septiembre. La ciudad esta ubicada entre cerros, sus principales elevaciones oscilan entre 2000 hasta 3200 metros sobre el nivel del mar.La ciudad ha logrado avanzar en la prestación de servicios básicos, cubriendo el 97% de agua entubada, 98% drenaje, 99% servicio sanitario y 99.6 electricidad.En cuanto a actividades se concentran en el sector terciario, seguido por el secundario derivado de la concentración de parques industriales. El 56% de la población con mas de 12 años es económicamente activa. La población cuenta con un grado de escolaridad de 10.7 puntos, por lo que la mayoría logra cursar la secundaria y los primeros grados de preparatoria.Los retos en aspecto social son: Disminuir la inseguridad en tema de robos a casa habitación.Disminuir la violencia FamiliarPrivilegiar la Protección Civil de los habitantes por ser un municipio con alto riesgo de vulnerabilidad.Retos ante el cambio climático y mala calidad del aireEl municipio de Santa Catarina produce el 6% anual de las emisiones estatales, donde los sectores que con mayores emisiones son Energía y Trasporte, (igual que el estado y la federación). En este sentido se requiere implementación de políticas públicas para disminuir las emisiones y los impactos a la salud. actualmente han incrementado las consultas por enfermedades respiratorias (se estima que es debido a las altas concentraciones de Gases y Partículas que se desprenden de la quema de combustibles fósiles).De igual manera el sector energético es uno de los más vulnerables, especialmente cuando se presenta algún evento hidrometereológico.En el área de vulnerabilidad y riesgos (de más alto riesgo)Huracanes, Inundaciones pluviales urbanas, Tormentas de Polvo, Sequías, Temperaturas extremas.Todos ellos ponen en riesgo y muy vulnerable a la ciudad, donde Santa Catarina cuenta con más de 100 mil adultos mayores y niños, es decir un 33% de su población. Además de enfermedades respiratorias, asma, bronquitis, ojos irritados, también en temporada de lluvia incrementa de manera exponencial las enfermedades por contagio de dengue, chicunguya y zika. así como enfermedades diarreicas por factores como altas olas de calor o insolación.Otro dato importante a considerar es la falta de cobertura vegetal del área urbana, a través de un estudio de cobertura vegetal, se ha identificado que el 67% del territorio tiene suelo desnudo.Otro tema es el déficit de agua, debido a que los pozos ya presentan este problema y con el incremento de población se vuelve un factor de riesgo.01/20/2022 02:27:05
