152820Cities 2021202131111Tokyo Metropolitan GovernmentJapanEast Asia6. OpportunitiesCollaboration6.2aPlease provide some key examples of how your city collaborates with business and/or industries in the table below.3Description of collaboration3In February 2021, TMG announced the Tokyo Bay eSG Project that envisions urban development with an eye on 50 to 100 years forward. The Tokyo Bay area, which is blessed with nature on the waterfront, has potential as “a new metropolitan center” with various attractions, such as commercial functions, entertainment, and facilities related to the Tokyo 2020 Games as well as new reclaimed land with a vast area of approximately 1,000 ha in the future, in addition to being Japan's leading logistics terminal. In this area, TMG will lead the way in realizing a sustainable city which will survive the climate crisis, where people will gather in search of charms specific to it even in the digital age. The pillars of this project include its development based on green finance as well as the realization of zero emissions and urban development full of water and greenery. Specifically, the idea aims to: 1) Develop a variety of projects with a keyword of green or sustainability by utilizing the Tokyo Green Finance Market (tentative name) to gather ventures and startups working to create a circular society from the rest of the world. 2) Help the Bay area give Tokyo a new lease on life by publicizing the attractiveness of businesses actively engaged in ESG to raise funds from the rest of the world. By communicating the results of the projects to the world, we will realize a virtuous cycle of attracting further investment and establish our position as the world’s financial hub, Tokyo as an International Financial Center. 3) Make sure that new innovations will be born, the projects will be deepened, and the ESG investment environment will be activated by helping advanced human resources studying ESG gather from the rest of the world to form research bases.
