It is a coastal city with land area of 1,204 square kilometers and 6,320,446 inhabitants according to a 2010 census ( 6.718.903 in 2019 according to estimates). The city has three coastal massifs that helped to shape and direct its urban development. The climate is Tropical with medium temperature of 23.7ºC and annual rainfall of 1,069 mm according to the last climate normal available (1961-1990). Rio de Janeiro is the city with the second highest GDP in Brazil. Tourism is an important activity for the city as well as services, commerce and industries, including two iron and steel industries, being one of them an integrated route one, with generation of electrical energy to itself and providing to the national grid. City administration is divided in five planning areas, which are subdivided into 33 administrative regions and 163 neighborhoods. The City Hall comprises a lot agencies of direct administration in addition to public companies, autarchies and foundations. As the City is also state capital and the former country capital, it has a high concentration of public buildings and employees. The city of Rio de Janeiro is the main city of a large metropolitan region that encompasses 21 other municipalities and has a population of almost 13 million people. This dataset contains a subset of the related full cities dataset, covering Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Action questions for publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
