AdaptationAdaptation Actions3.0Please describe the main actions you are taking to reduce the risk to, and vulnerability of, your city’s infrastructure, services, citizens, and businesses from climate change as identified in the Climate Hazards section.8Action description and implementation progress11In most communities, a strong partner can provide potential sites, supplies, staffing support, job creation and training support, funding support, or act as the primary implementation partner. Resilience hubs are trusted neighborhood locations or facilities where residents can access resources and support on a regular basis. Resilience hubs provide community-defined support services that increase day-to-day resilience as well as support during extreme events and assistance during the recovery period. They are focused in communities most vulnerable to climate change impacts and stressors due to the legacy of systemic racism. Shifting power and capacity to communities through the development of a network of community-driven resilience hubs can help reduce stress on systems and infrastructure such as public safety, hospitals, and transportation while increasing adaptive community capacity. Developing a resilience hub creates culture and relationships that support all residents and helps dismantle historical inequities and their root causes.01/20/2022 02:27:05

Climate Hazards and VulnerabilityClimate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment2.0aPlease select the primary process or methodology used to undertake the risk and vulnerability assessment of your city.2Description1Risk assessment methodologyThe risk assessment methodology of the selected sectors of the region follows the recommended methodological framework and instructions for preparing the Risk Study provided by the Covenant of Mayors. The risk assessment (IPCC) is based on an analysis of expected climate changes. Climate risk is a function of the expected possible climate impacts and weather extremes, the vulnerability of the system and the sector's exposure to weather and climate factors. In the Risk Study, the risk is assessed quantitatively. The inputs for sector-specific risk assessment were preliminary vulnerability assessments, estimates of potential changes in exposure, and analysis of expected climate changes. The risk assessment is a five-step assessment and consists of an assessment of potential changes in exposure and vulnerability assessments (assessment 1-5).Vulnerability is a synthesis of exposure factors, sensitivities, impact potentials, and adaptability. It is a function of the nature, magnitude and degree of climate change and the fluctuations to which the system is exposed, its sensitivity and adaptability. To assess vulnerability, assessments of potential impacts and adaptability are combined on the basis of pre-known criteria and aggregation techniques. The vulnerability assessment is given in quantitative form and is the result of a combination of both quantitative and qualitative data describing the indicators of all variables considered. The evaluation of vulnerability is five-step and consists of an evaluation of potential impacts and adaptability (score 1-5).01/20/2022 02:27:05
