Zero Waste 2040 is our aspirational goal to have no rubbish or waste going into our landfill by 2040.It is a big challenge that will require big changes and everyone working together. We are well on the way, with the introduction of the food scraps collection service in October 2019, diverting 150 tonnes of food waste from the landfill each month and The Junction re-use shop opening in March 2020. Commercial Waste Sorting Facility (2022). We’ve received Ministry for the Environment funding to construct a commercial waste sorting facility at Colson Road early next year. This will help overcome some of the challenges for the construction sector in separating reusable, recyclable and compostable items (time, space on site, and transport time) by sorting out divertable materials from mixed skips. We estimate this will create 6 new jobs and divert some great volumes of usable/recyclable material, as well as enabling growth in local recycling solutionshttps://www.newplymouthnz.com/Residents/Your-Property/Zero-Waste-Recycling-and-Rubbish | 01/20/2022 02:27:05 | |||
