Aiming to reduce water consumption, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) together with Petalling Jaya City Council have embarked on a pilot project involving 277 households in Section 10, Petaling Jaya . Each household was provided with several “tap inserts”, small plastic objects roughly the diameter of a 10 cent coin with five holes in it. The thimble is meant to be inserted inside taps and shower heads. “The water thimble pilot project first took place for three months in mid-2018 at Desa Mentari Block 1 and involved 88 households in Petaling Jaya. On average, a person saved about 201 of water a day, or about 30% reduction.“Overall, we distributed 300 units of thimbles during the pilot project and they managed to save 418,000L of water during the three-month period. Since then, additional of 407 households within the river basins of Penchala River has been participated and a saving of 28,813,900 litres water was achieved. A total of 2000 households is expected to install the water thimble by last quarter of 2021.https://www.thestar.com.my/metro/metro-news/2019/02/25/a-thimble-of-hope01/20/2022 02:27:05

Information from the Colorado Department of Public Health (CDPHE) indicated that West Nile virus was first detected in Colorado in 2002. West Nile is associated with stagnant water and drought conditions. According to the Boulder County Health Department, Boulder County and the City of Boulder will continue to be at risk to West Nile virus. However, the severity of these viruses is expected to change from year to year, depending on variables such as weather patterns, the mosquito population, the bird population, and immunity in humans. The number of incidents of the disease have been declining since 2007. According to the Boulder County Climate Change Preparedness Plan milder weather in the current “cold” seasons and warmer weather in the summer could make the county a more suitable habitat for new mosquito species, increasing the potential for additional cases of some mosquito-borne diseases that are already established in the county. At the same time, increases in the precipitation associated with extreme events could increase the habitat suitable for supporting mosquitoes. Drawing definitive conclusions about public health risk changes associated with vector-borne illnesses as a result of climate change are complicated by the need to also account for any associated changes in human behavior that would accompany the associated impacts to seasonal and daily weather conditions.01/20/2022 02:27:05

Examine the presence and develop appropriate measures.- Map existing investigations for terminated household and industrial landfills in flood risk areasIn 2009 the municipality adopted an action plan for polluted areas:In the municipality of Linköping, 670 potentially polluted areas have been identified. Many of the contaminated land areas are located where industrial activities have previously been conducted. Industrialization in Linköping began around the 20th century and was initially dominated by the metal, wood, textile and food industries. The metal industry has gradually increased and has been the dominant industrial industry since the 1940s. Until the 1940s, the industry was mainly located in the inner city. Thereafter, the industrial areas at Industrigatan as well as Kallerstad and Tornby were planned. There are 24 closed landfills within the municipality. The municipality is the principal for 17 of these.01/20/2022 02:27:05
