Following a stakeholder workshop and public survey to develop our understanding of the regional circular economy activity and stakeholders, a Circular Economy Taskforce was formed in November 2020, made up of public, private, academic and third sector partners in the region. The Taskforce provided input to a specification which was used to publish a WMCA tender for consultancy support to produce the Routemap. Useful Projects were appointed in January 2021.The project aims were to develop a practical and engaging Circular Economy Routemap, in collaboration with key stakeholders, that sets out a:•vision for circular economy in the West Midlands•headline opportunities for priority sectors•a clear plan for delivery and implementationThe routemap also aims to:•Kickstart the circular economy in the West Midlands building on existing projects, expertise and clusters•Generate economic advantage, safeguard existing jobs and create new ones. •Support broader environmental recovery (WM2041)•Support wider social outcomes and the creation of a social economy•Accelerate green and just recovery from COVID-19 and maximise post Brexit opportunitiesUnderpinning this vision are key principles, which will act as long term drivers for the region in delivering the routemap: 1.Enabling Foundations: An enabling environment will be created to support a transition to the circular economy across the entire economy.2.Resource Optimisation: Resource productivity and material recovery will be maximised, thereby increasing supply chain’s resilience and global competitiveness.3.Inclusive, Green Growth: An inclusive, green growth will be supported in the region, maximising job creation, social value, decarbonisation as well as health and well-being.4.Innovation and Collaboration: Innovation and collaborative research will be encouraged and supported to unlock new business opportunities for the region, including for SMEs | 01/14/2022 02:32:38

If your country has an NDC and your city’s target is less ambitious than the NDC, please explain why. | 1 | Borough wide target of net zero by 2050. The data available is from 2019, and the target is net-zero, so we are not able to measure progress against this date until subsequent reporting years. However, as can be seen from previous years (see our dataset for 2005 and the consumption based emissions figures), progress has already been made to reduce emissions borough wide. Whilst we only agreed a net zero by 2050 target for the borough in 2021, the action plans agreed at the start of 2020 and refreshed in 2021 recognise the need to decarbonise across the borough in line with the UK's 2050 and GLA's 2050 overarching targets. As such, the bulk of the action plans have always been geared towards meeting those goals, and the specific goal of net zero by 2050 formalised in 2021. | 01/14/2022 02:32:38

At their meeting on 13 March 2020, members of West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Transport Committee considered a report containing a summary of the responses to its recent worldwide appeal for ideas and experience for the development of a mass transit system for the Leeds City Region. Included in the report, Advanced Urban Transit Technologies: Market Testing, is a range of responses under the main themes of Propulsion Technologies, Autonomously Operated Mass Transit Systems and Mass Transit and addressing the Climate Emergency. The new draft shared Connectivity Infrastructure Plan sets out a long-term transport infrastructure investment programme for the next 20 years, providing a picture of where improvements are most needed to enhance people’s quality of life and bring investment to the area. All plans including Mass Transit routes are at an early design stage and no decisions have been made on routes or technology options yet.https://www.yourvoice.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/connectivityIt is built on detailed evidence on the role different types of transport can play:Mass Transit 2040 Vision - a bold and ambitious plan for a new form of transport for West Yorkshire.West Yorkshire Strategic Bus Network Review – a review of the region’s core bus network and proposals for increasing the number of people travelling by busWest Yorkshire Rail Vision– Setting out how better rail services can support our ambitions for the regionLocal Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans – Proposals to improve infrastructure and remove barriers to people walking and cycling for more journeysFuture Mobility Strategy – a review of how transport technology and innovation can improve lives and reduce carbon emissionsOur Connectivity Infrastructure Plan is a starting point,Revised Connectivity Plan - this is an upcoming stage for Connectivity Infrastructure PlanResponding to engagement feedback WYCA will present a reviewed Plan. This will then progress the scheme, with further rounds of engagement and evaluation, to find preferred options that would be delivered. Our vision for the future of transport in West YorkshireWest Yorkshire Transport Strategy 2040 (adopted by WYCA in 2017) https://www.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/growing-the-economy/strategic-economic-framework/policies-and-strategies/connectivity/ | 01/14/2022 02:32:38
