PUB started the Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme in 2006 as a strategic initiative to transform Singapore’s waterways and water bodies beyond their utilitarian purposes into beautiful and vibrant streams, rivers and lakes. The programme provides new community and recreational spaces; improves the aesthetics of the urban environment; detain stormwater and improves its quality though natural cleansing features (also known as ABC Waters design features); and builds closer people-water relationships.Since 2006, PUB has partnered NParks, HDB, and other stakeholders to implement ABC Waters projects at more than 40 sites across the island. PUB also encourages public agencies and private developers to incorporate ABC Waters design features to cleanse stormwater runoff within their development as well as improve the overall liveability. The ABC Waters Certification scheme was introduced in 2010 to recognise public agencies and private developers who embrace ABC Waters concept in their development. Since its launch, over 80 developments had attained ABC Waters Certification. | 01/19/2022 02:30:06 | |||
