For Legazpi, the major crop considered in the inventory is rice. The general IPCC methodology for calculating CH4 emissions from rice production is based on the annually harvested areas. Rice production should be disaggregated into one of the four following categories: Dry Season/Irrigated, Dry Season/Non-Irrigated, Wet Season/Irrigated, or Wet Season/Non-Irrigated) (IPCC, 2007).Activity data for annually harvested areas of rice were obtained from the City Agriculture Office. Legazpi has a total of 1,287.9 ha. of land dedicated to rice where 1,022.02 ha are irrigated the whole year while the remaining 265.9 ha are rain-fed only. The farmers plant rice twice in one year, once in the rainy season and another in the dry season.The default emission factor values for Asia for CH4 and the GWP of CH4 comes from the 2006 IPCC Guidelines (IPCC, 1997). The following formula was used in estimating CH4 generation from crop management: CH4 emissions = Land Area x Emission Factor CO2e Emissions = CH4 emissions x GWPWhere:a. CH4 emissions in metric tonnesb. CO2e emissions in metric tonnesGHG emissions from livestock come from the manure-management of different kinds of animals based on a default value for farm management of nutrients by livestock type (e.g. cattle, poultry, swine, etc.).The following formula was used in estimating CH4 generation from livestock management: CH4 emissions = Number of heads x CH4 Emission Factor) N2O emissions = Number of heads x N2O Emission Factor CO2e Emissions = (CH4 emissions x GWP) + (N2O emissions + GWP)Where:a. This data is collected through the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System. When using this data, please cite both organisations using the following wording: ‘This data was collected in partnership by CDP and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability’.
This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
