Bangalore has nearly 25 lakhs properties. The city is divided in to 198 wards, 3 to 4 wards make a subdivision, 7 to 8 wards constitute a division and two to 6 divisions constitute the zones. Presently Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has 7 zones. These properties generates around 4200 Metric Tones of waste per day. Among this the city presently has a source segregation of waste into three streams of waste namely wet waste, dry waste, sanitary waste which is collected by the Municipality and managed. The City processes in its plants and converts about 1200 MT per day of wet waste into compost. Nearly 700 MTPD waste collected is dry waste which is either recycled, reused, RDF is sold to the cement factory. The Self Help Groups (SHG's), Non Government Organizations (NGOs), Resident Welfare Associations (RWA's) and Rag Pickers are involved in dry waste collection and its usage. They make a living out of this by generating employment. BBMP Targets to construct at each ward level decentralised composting units so that the transportation of waste is avoided and composting is done at source and decentralized level. BBMP also has plans to construct Dry waste collection centres for the benefit of NGO, RWA, SHG and Rag picker associations to handle the Drywaste at ward level. BBMP intends to construct 14 MW waste to Energy power plant in the next two years.01/20/2022 02:27:05

This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
