In order to be aligned with the national government, we adjusted our goal from 50% reduction in 2050 to net-zero in 2050. For the mid-term target, we aim to reduce emissions by 20% by 2030 compared with 2005. Currently, we are drafting the Greenhouse Gas Control Implementation Plan for 2021~ 2025 , which will be reviewed and adjusted to be aligned with the mid-term target and net-zero in 2050.In 2021, we are drafting the second stage of Taoyuan City Greenhouse Gas Control Implementation Plan, which encompasses initiatives that will be implemented during 2021~2025. Given that the mitigation goal was updated, we are currently mapping out the net-zero roadmap by consulting experts specializing in different sectors and stakeholders. In the preliminary consulting meeting with experts in July this year, we identified the areas where we can put much more efforts to accelerate emissions reduction. For example, the city government can help households and enterprises further reduce energy consumption through ESCO model. In terms of industry sector, it was strongly suggested that energy-heavy industries join the ”Green Factory Promotion Program” initiated by the city government and introduce ” ISO 5001 Energy Management System”. As for energy consumption by buildings, the city government can develop a localized guideline for urban and buildings energy conservation design. In the process of drafting the second stage of Taoyuan City Greenhouse Gas Control Implementation Plan, we will incorporate the recommendations and continue to draw up potential pathways.2.Adaptation:We are implementing the 2020-2022 Taoyuan City Climate Change Adaptation Plan. With weather events become all the more extreme, such as the drought that plagued Taiwan this spring, we have implemented plans to adapt. For example, to address erratic water supply, we constructed 7 effluents recycling and reutilizing centers, which collect and dispose sewage in the city. After disposing, the effluents are offered to industries and government agencies, in a bid to reduce usage of tap water and mitigate the impact of water rationing. The adaptation plan was also developed by relevant departments and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.01/20/2022 02:27:05
