Singapore achieved its 2020 solar deployment target of 350 MWp of installed capacity and will continue to push the boundaries to maximise solar deployment. Over temporary vacant land, JTC has issued a tender for the third phase of its Solar Land programme in 2020 that will add more than 67 MWp of installed capacity in total. The industry is also exploring innovative financing models such as solar leasing, whereby an organisation can lease solar panels under long term contracts with the leasing company which is responsible for designing, financing, maintaining and operating the PV systems.For infrastructure, we are test-bedding building-applied / building-integrated PVs on building facades, and have deployed our longest integrated solar walkway spanning 196m in 2020. We are also actively investing in solar R&D and technology development to improve the efficiency, durability and safety of the solar panels in our tropical climate, and lower the costs of solar technologies for adoption on a larger scale.
