The shift towards Electric mobility is essential to reduce air pollution along with Green House Gas emissions while supporting COVID-19 economic recovering efforts. In 2020, my province, Telangana, approved a new policy, making Telangana a preferred destination for EVs and allied component manufacturing units, also focusing on energy storage. The city is focusing on strong public charging system needed to support robust EV use. The city is also piloting various initiatives such battery swapping pilots, as well as promoting Electric goods carriers for E-commerce.The city has a fleet of 40 electric buses and the Hyderabad Metro Rail was the first metro in the country to provide electric vehicle charging stations.Over 12000 electric vehicles were added over the last 3 years. Renewable energy is another major thrust area for Hyderabad. The total rooftop solar potential of Hyderabad city is 1.73 GW. If realised, this can help the city reduce the power demand by almost 15 percent.This is in line with State and National governments push for renewables to meet India’s ambitious target of 450 GW of renewable power by 2030. Our province has a total installed capacity of 4+Giga Watt renewable energy power.. •Hyderabad city has shown leadership, with around 4,00,000 LED street lights installed in place of conventional high-energy consuming streetlights, which helped in cutting down energy demand by 40 megawatt (MW).01/20/2022 02:27:05
