OpportunitiesFinance and Economic Opportunities6.6Has your city tested their climate actions through pilot/demonstration projects?2Description of project and weblink1Tested by city governmentOur climate actions are generally contained in our strategy documents and cascade as actions, that are implemented as fully scoped projects. In October 2018 the City approved implementation of Phase I of a food scraps collection and recycling trial to be run over 12 months with approximately 300 houses and 100 apartment buildings. After 7 months of operation, the City had collected and recycled just over 118 tonnes of food scraps from the 324 houses and 69 apartment buildings taking part in the scheme. The preliminary results indicate the trial is on track to success with good recovery and participation rates, low bin contamination, high customer satisfaction, and delivery of multiple environmental benefits. Phase II of the trial is now underway and will see the availability of the service increase to around 21,000 households by the end of September 2021. The proposed scope for Phase II is to expand the trial to 250 apartment buildings and 1,000 houses for a further 12 months. https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/environmental-support-funding/food-scraps-recycling-trial01/20/2022 02:27:05
