We completed a review on the Strategy in 2019 and updated the Strategy which adopts a two-pronged approach, with emphasis on containing fresh water demand growth and building resilience in the fresh water supply catering for extreme effects of climate change with diversified water resources. The water management measures are as follows:Water Conservation We have been taking a multi-pronged approach to promote water conservation using both hardware and software measures, including Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme, automatic meter reading, installation of flow controllers at housing estates and schools, public education, best practice guidelines for major water-consuming trades, etc.Water Loss Management Having achieved significant reduction in water mains leakage through the 15-year replacement and rehabilitation programme (substantially completed in 2015) for 3,000–kilometres (km) aged water mains, we are progressively establishing the Water Intelligent Network (WIN) to continuously monitor fresh water distribution network healthiness for timely and appropriate interventions to reduce water loss in the network. (For details of WIN, see Risk Item “Inadequate or ageing water supply infrastructure” below.)Expansion of Use of Lower Grade WaterWe target at expanding the network coverage of using lower grade water (viz. seawater and recycled water) for flushing from 85% of total population to 90% in the long run. We are implementing waterworks projects for supplying reclaimed water to Sheung Shui & Fanling areas and treated grey water to the Anderson Road Quarry Development. In addition, we encourage wider adoption of grey water recycling and rainwater harvesting systems by promulgating internal guidelines for installing these water recycling facilities in new government buildings and providing incentives through the Building Environmental Assessment Method (BEAM) Plus Assessment Tool. We will continue to review the extension of supply of lower grade water to new development areas and other areas being supplied with fresh water for flushing. | 01/20/2022 02:27:05

GRPB builds inclusive partnerships with stakeholders to ensure meaningful participation and engagement at all levels. GRPB also uses accessibility and universal design as core principles in planning and public facilities through inclusive, accessible and participatory processes and consultations with all group of gender such as women, older people, children and people with disabilities. GRPB requires community engagement in planning, implementation of project and budget allocation based on their needs and priorities in order to achieve sustainable cityGRPB can be sustained in social, economic and environmental aspects. From social aspect, MPSP provides convenience public amenities through public engagement and understanding what people need from the place they live and work.In term of economic aspect, MPSP provides job opportunities as what is concerned by the locals especially the woman. In PPR Ampangan and Aman Island, cleaning contract in low cost housing was given to resident’s association. Moreover, MPSP also conducted handcraft workshop to the PPR Ampangan residents. Various upcycle products are made during the workshop using the recycle material like newspapers. The end products such as basket, bag and pen holders will then be sold as souvenirs. From the environmental aspect, MPSP is heading towards the low carbon city by promoting climate friendly lifestyle. Bicycle lanes are designated at several places to facilitate the cyclist as well as to encourage the public to use bicycle as mode of transportation in reducing the carbon footprint. Besides, a number of tree planting activities were also organized throughout the year of 2017 and 2018 as part of the plan to give social, economic and environmental benefits. | 01/20/2022 02:27:05

Please note that this dataset may contain data from cities or, in some instances, groups of cities at different administrative levels. This includes metropolitan areas, combined authorities, and some regional councils.
When using the inventory data for aggregation, comparison and trend analysis, please note that the inventory data is based on non-verified self-reported city inputs. The reported inventory may not include all emission sources within the city boundary.
This view contains data from the CDP Cities Southeast Asia and Oceania, CDP Cities South and West Asia and CDP Cities East Asia Authority Regions.
