Communicate in the municipality's own channels, as well as provide media informationHow will the measure reduce greenhouse gas emissions?In 2019, we weighed the food waste for a week. The food waste totaled 750 kg at 10 institutions. This is equivalent to 39,000 kg per year . We have a conference with Østfoldforskning and Matvett.no which says that based on the calculations behind the calculator 39 tonnes of food waste will correspond to approximately 72 tonnes of CO2 equivalents. This means that 1 kg of food waste corresponds to 1.8 kg of CO2 equivalents. Our goal is to halve food waste in 2 years. It investigates the vegetation’s effects on the air quality in the cities, its impact on temperatures and further changes on air pollution. It is aimed at understanding whether the urban green, in some chemical and atmospheric conditions, can entail health risks for humans and vegetation ecosystems, due to its contribution through additional emissions by the vegetation, to the production of ozone and of secondary particulate matter. The issues that VEG-GAP faces span a wide range of interactions such as between plant ecosystems and pollution, plant ecosystems and meteorology, pollution and human health, pollution and plant ecosystem health, etc. Hence, the project intends to develop a methodology and support tools to the city to design the implementation of afforestation interventions and green infrastructure (woods, tree-lined rows, meadows, roofs and green facades...), avoiding choices that can create additional risks to human health and maximizing the possible benefits of vegetation.VEG-GAP is an important tool to support adaptation policies and planning of planting interventions.
