On the base on the lowest transition costs per neighbourhood, planning by us and our partners and existing initiatives in the city, a choice has been made for the neighborhoods and areas where we will be working on the heat transition. These are Dukenburg, Hengstdal, Bottendaal, Hatert and Heijendaal station area. We aim to be natural gas-free in these areas by 2035 at the latest. In addition, we will have a for the entire city developing an approach to prepare private homes for transition by installing insulation, ventilation and electric cooking stimulate.An estimated of 25.000 homes will have an alternative heating devices such as district heating or individual heatpump. An CO2 reduction of 55.000 t-CO2 is estimated. In addition the isolation of resedential homes wil attribute another approximatley 15.000 t-CO2 reduction.These 25.000 residential homes en Ulitiybuildings are planed to be natural gas free by the year 2035. Most of the other 50.000 residential home are made natural gas gree ready so that these homes can be an transisition between 2035 en 2045.As continued in 2019 a strategy has been made how the the buildings of the city of Nijmegen can be connected to a city wide distric heating system. Description
This data is collected through the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System. When using this data, please cite both organisations using the following wording: ‘This data was collected in partnership by CDP and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability’.
This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.

Please note that this dataset may contain data from cities or, in some instances, groups of cities at different administrative levels. This includes metropolitan areas, combined authorities, and some regional councils.
When using the inventory data for aggregation, comparison and trend analysis, please note that the inventory data is based on non-verified self-reported city inputs. The reported inventory may not include all emission sources within the city boundary.
