The bulk of Wandsworth’s action plan therefore seeks to create the conditions needed for change to happen across the borough, acknowledging that tackling carbon emissions outside the Council’s direct control will be essential to building a greener economy and reducing the borough’s carbon footprint. Each action has a lead accountable officer and is designed to bring the right problem-solvers together to see challenges more clearly and take action in ways that endure. Progress is measured against agreed, quantifiable targets and deadlines that look at short, medium and long-term changes. Estimates of the cost associated with the actions and their impact on reducing carbon emissions are provided to guide resourcing and highlight the most pressing actions. Every action highlights co-benefits and makes the links to wider issues faced by the borough, helping decision-makers across all directorates to identify options for decarbonising service areas. A new climate change team was established from early 2020 to drive forward the development and implementation of the action plan, including two lead programme and policy officers, a climate change communications role and a lead for engagement and partnerships. This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
