The existing door-to-door biowaste collection scheme, operating since 2005 for private entities, was expanded, during the last quarter of 2019, as a pilot, to 7000 households. During 2019 nearly 30 thousand tons of biowaste were collected and treated anaerobically, producing renewable energy and compost.For each ton diverted it is estimated that 2 tons of CO2 are avoided.All the above programs were co-funded by european and national funding programs (Horizon 2020 and POSEUR).·Development of local sustainable food businesses·Increase opportunities for partnerships·Increased food security With the objective of reducing food and kitchen waste production at the source, Lisbon Municipality is collaborating, through the FORCE project (co-funded by H2020 program), with the development and implementation of innovative IT Tools to enable the redistribution of foodstuffs still fit for human consumption through charitable institutions. This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
