Conta com o Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos desde o ano de 2012, na modalidade “Compra com Doação Simultânea”, por meio da Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento, CONAB. Na gestão de janeiro de 2017, optou-se pela continuação do PAA Modalidade “Compra com Doação Simultânea” e pela adesão ao PAA Modalidade “Compra Institucional”. Os alimentos adquiridos junto aos produtores rurais são recebidos pelo Banco Municipal de Alimentos. Com o PAA, o município garante uma nova fonte de renda para o produtor, melhorando a qualidade de vida do homem no campo. Em contrapartida, tem-se um maior controle sobre a qualidade dos alimentos adquiridos, facilitando a rastreabilidade, já que as compras são preferencialmente de agricultores do município e região. É um processo sustentável, uma vez que os recursos são investidos no produtor local que, por sua vez, reinveste em produtos e serviços da região. E, ainda, tem-se a garantia do fornecimento de alimentação para as pessoas em situação de insegurança alimentar.Conta também com o Projeto Hortalimento, inserido dentro de um projeto macro no Centro de Produção e Transferência de Tecnologia Agropecuária – CPTTA. O intuito do CPTTA é a produção e transferência de tecnologia ao produtor rural, levando Educação Ambiental e capacitação aos pequenos produtores, bem como produzir gêneros livres de agrotóxicos que são direcionadas para famílias carentes. A produção do local é totalmente revertida para o Banco Municipal de Alimentos e redistribuída para famílias cadastradas nos programas sociais do município.Está em fase de elaboração O Plano Municipal de Segurança Alimentar de São José do Rio Preto.01/20/2022 02:27:05
