Sus rocas son predominantemente ignimbritas y basaltos, sus suelos varían de texturas finas (arcillas) a gruesas (arenas). El municipio de Morelia presenta climas que van de semicálidos a templados, con lluvias en verano y una precipitación media anual que oscila entre los 625 mm hasta los 901 mm.La ciudad de Morelia forma parte de una zona metropolitana junto con los municipios de Tarímbaro, Álvaro Obregón y Charo; representa el 2.04% de la superficie total estatal. Y constituye el área urbana número uno de Michoacán, con 146.6 kilómetros cuadrados.Morelia es una ciudad media a nivel nacional de acuerdo con el índice de competitividad urbana 2012, del Instituto Mexicano de la Competitividad Urbana A.C. Algunas de las características demográficas, económicas y sociales más importantes de Morelia son: En población, al 2015 es el municipio de Michoacán más poblado con 784,776 habitantes (INEGI,2015 Economía: Su Producto Interno Bruto es de 50 mil millones de pesos aproximadamente (PMD 2018-2021), la población económicamente activa (PEA) es de 54.1% para el año 2015. El producto per cápita anual de Morelia alcanzaba en 2014 los $64,754 pesos mexicanos. El municipio tiene una clara vocación económical por el sector terciario de la economía, logrando representar el 60% de PIB municipal. Este sector también es el más dinámico y con mayor porcentaje de PEA (73.1%), esto se debe en gran parte a la función que cumple Morelia como centro educativo, comercial, financiero y en gran medida turístico. Entre las áreas de mayor desempeño destacan servicios relacionados con al atractivo turístico-paisajista, oferta de servicios en lugares de riqueza cultural e histórica, servicios financieros e inmobiliarios, así como centros universitarios y de investigación y oficinas corporativas públicas (FIRA y CFE-División Centro Occidente). This data is collected through the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System. When using this data, please cite both organisations using the following wording: ‘This data was collected in partnership by CDP and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability’.
This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.

When using the inventory data for aggregation, comparison and trend analysis, please note that the inventory data is based on non-verified self-reported city inputs. The reported inventory may not include all emission sources within the city boundary.
