O novo projeto, que compreende uma área de 174.000m², contempla as vias envolvidas com dispositivos específicos, como travessias elevadas para pedestres, prolongamentos de calçadas e sinalização especial indicando limite de velocidade, além de lombadas físicas, aumento de pontos com faixas de pedestres e rampas de acessibilidade universal.Quadrilátero de trânsito calma no Centro de Fortaleza: Como parte da Área de Trânsito Calmo do Centro, a Prefeitura de Fortaleza segue implantando novo limite de velocidade de 30 km/h em vias do bairro. O objetivo é preservar a segurança do pedestre, um dos usuários mais vulneráveis a acidentes que correspondem a 31% dos óbitos registrados no ano passado.Além disso, existe o projeto Inovador no Brasil que é um estudo inédito no País, desenvolvido no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia de Transportes da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), combinou dados reais com a simulação da criação de uma Zona de Baixa Emissão na cidade de Fortaleza: o primeiro a analisar essa medida no Brasil, adaptando-a à realidade de um país tropical como o nosso.
