Work done by Ashden and Friends of the Earth has suggested that this is one of the most effective things that public authorities can do to reduce their carbon emissions .2) We will support the Assets and Operational teams in ensuring WMCA is showing leadership around its own assets and operations. This will include: continual improvement of the internal Environmental Management System and broadening its scope to incorporate incoming brownfield land and other new assets; ensuring that the WMCA estate responds to the climate emergency by working towards achieving net zero carbon emissions, taking on board actions in WM2041; and, that WMCA retains its ISO14001 certification (this is showing that carbon outputs continually reduce).3) We are also considering new processes and mechanisms by which we can streamline existing tools like the WM Design Charter, Inclusive Growth Toolkit and the Single Commissioning Framework to ensure all WMCA investment drives more inclusive and sustainable growth.4) During the next 12 months we are committed to bring forward further details of a programme to ‘decarbonise WMCA’ and show leadership in responding to the climate emergency to relevant programme boards of the Combined Authority in conjunction with plans to develop more co-ordinated mechanisms to drive more inclusive and sustainable growth. | 01/14/2022 02:32:38 | |||
