Governance and Data Management | Governance | 1.6 | Please provide information on the overall impact of COVID-19 on climate action in your city. | 2 | Comment | 1 | Response | This is difficult to assess. During the pandemic the City advanced robust climate policies, such as and internal cost of carbon and a climate emergency declaration. Other climate policies and priorities are underway and have political support. However, the pandemic shifted the cities priorities by elevating concerns for economic recovery, downtown prosperity, homelessness, and the racial justice protests that have impacted downtown businesses and police accountability. These issues have emerged as priorities for City Leadership. However, the impacts of climate change - wild fires, heat waves, drought, and severe winter storms - have accelerated and ensured that climate change remains a key concern. | 01/20/2022 02:27:05 | ||
