In Bologna for the period 1961-2018 there is an upward trend in the annual maximum and minimum temperatures with anomalies which, since the 1990s, have remained positive (with values between 0.5 ° and 2.5 ° C) and which represent warmer years than the reference period. The scenarios developed for the period 2021-2050 show the same trend with a variation ranging from 1.2 ° C in the winter minimum up to a maximum of about 3 ° C in the summer maximum. With regard to rainfall, the alternation of more or less rainy periods is observed, with a slight tendency to decrease compared to the reference climate. The projections for the thirty years 2021-2050 show a sign of a decrease in quantities in all seasons, more accentuated in summer, a season which is also associated with an extension of continuous periods without rain. to the expected increases in temperature especially in the summer season, the replication of high intensity phenomena, often concentrated in short time intervalsTherefore, the main elements of vulnerability of the territory are heat waves in the urban environment, extreme rain events, hydrogeological instability and the lack of quality of the water resource. The elements useful for defining the current adaptation capacity of the Municipality of Bologna were obtained from the monitoring of the actions of the Adaptation Plan. The contrast to the heat island phenomenon that affects the urban area of Bologna has seen the increase in greenery in new or redeveloped public spaces, the creation of additional new gardens (+5,000 square meters compared to 2015); the planting of trees, of which over 2,000 through public-private partnerships; experimenting with forms of co-planning with citizens, using tools such as crowdfunding and participatory budgeting. The number of public green spaces in Bologna in 2019 is growing and can be summarized as follows:• 26 sqm / inhabitant of municipal public green, equal to 1,009 hectares, of which 769 hectares within the urbanized perimeter. We also highlight the presence of 30 hectares of horticultural areas of which 16 in sites owned by the Municipality of Bologna.• 21 trees per 100 inhabitants, equal to 83,859 trees in total, of which 73,766 trees are within the perimeter of the urbanization.• 19 sq km of urban, public and private green in the TU (59 sq km).The information and awareness projects for citizens are now consolidated and well underway both in the fight against new tropical vectors (fight against the tiger mosquito) and in the fight against heat waves, particularly in the population groups most at risk (Emergency Hot telephone service, Plan for Monitoring Elderly in Solitude ...). Bologna is also one of the 27 Italian cities included in the "National Plan for the prevention and warning of the health effects of heat waves" of the Ministry of Health which, for over 10 years, has been monitoring and studying the effects of heat waves on the population.As part of the Civil Protection Plan, the forecasting and alert system was launched at the municipal level (Alert system service) capable of instantly communicating the civil protection alerts to registered citizens. This service, together with the regional portal "Emilia-Romagna Weather Alert", is one of the useful tools to update, in real time, the Municipalities and citizenship on the evolution of meteorological phenomena (floods, thunderstorms, heat waves ...) to greater impact and manage any emergency.In terms of fighting water scarcity, the interventions are above all of a supra-municipal (basin) nature and concern the construction of large hydraulic works, currently in the process of approval, able to lighten the withdrawal from water courses, contributing to the maintenance of the flow total minimum: completion of the Tubone (connection pipeline between CER and IDAR purifier), works to regulate the flow of the Reno (connection between the Reno Vivo reservoir and the Maglio canal), construction of the first rain tank of the IDAR purifier. With regard to drought, the Acqua Virtuosa project together with the activation of the binomial tariff have shown their effectiveness in optimizing withdrawals from the Rhine and the Bolognese canals and in limiting waste of the irrigation resource. | 01/20/2022 02:27:05 | ||

This dataset contains all public responses to the CDP-ICLEI 2021 Cities questionnaire. All data included in the dataset is self reported by cities. The reporting platform remains open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
Please note that this dataset exceeds the capacity for Excel. To export the data to Excel, the dataset has been separated into three files. Please follow the links below to access these:
