Por isso, é fundamental somar esforços e lançar mão de estratégias inovadoras de atuação. Partindo desta perspectiva, algumas tecnologias de limpeza e tratamento de águas foram pesquisadas e debatidas como alternativas complementares do saneamento básico. Dentre as alternativas pesquisadas, identificou-se como apropriada para este contexto a tecnologia chamada de jardins filtrantes. Essa tecnologia apresenta algumas características consideradas importantes para sua aplicação na cidade. Dentre elas, o manejo relativamente simples e de baixo custo dos sistemas; a possibilidade dos sistemas de tratamento das águas serem inseridos como jardins aquáticos com qualidades paisagísticas; o uso e proteção de áreas ribeirinhas como áreas públicas de recuperação ambiental, evitando futuras ocupações e riscos ambientais; e o nível de emissão de gases de efeito estufa (GEE) significantemente menores do que outros sistemas convencionais de tratamento de esgoto. No contexto do Recife, o que se propõe é usar sistemas de jardins filtrantes em alguns trechos de riachos poluídos, mas que tem ainda grande potencial para recuperar suas qualidades ambientais, e de se tornarem áreas de lazer para a população. Os trechos foram selecionados em função das características dos riachos existentes e dos seus entornos (tipo de ocupação urbana, topografia, fluxo hídrico, etc), assim como do potencial observado para assumir papel como intervenções exemplares para um novo padrão de atuação urbanística em riachos urbanos do Recife. Ou seja, para estabelecer uma mudança de paradigma na cidade. Em termos objetivos, a diretriz principal a ser considerada aqui é a ruptura com o conceito ainda dominante que promoveu a retificação e impermeabilização de boa parte dos riachos do Recife como forma principal de proteger áreas urbanizadas das enchentes e inundações. Desta forma, as quatro áreas selecionadas para instalação de Jardins Filtrantes compreendem a região do Parque do Capibaribe e do Parque do Jiquiá, oferecendo melhoria das águas no rio Capibaribe, e do rio Jiquiá e Tejipió.01/20/2022 02:27:05
