The rapidly swelling population, increasing urbanization, coupled with unprecedented extreme rainfall events, increased solid waste generation and lack of sufficient drainage system have all contributed to the frequent floods. On January 16, 2021 alone, about 1,500 families living in low-lying urban areas were affected by the flood when the intense precipitation, at 68mm according to rainfall data, struck the city. The normal precipitation in a day is only about 5 – 20mm.These occurrences are a growing source of significant economic loss, social disruption and property damage. Therefore, in response to this problem, the Local Government Unit of San Carlos is planning to establish a Flood Control System and a Waste Recycling Facility, as support component to reduce drainage clogs, to permanently mitigate this problem. The planned Flood Control Facility will compose of series of outlets from the city’s major waterways and various large underground storage tanks for stormwater collection and reuse. These tanks will significantly reduce the volume of stormwater and at the same time address the freshwater water shortage of the city by converting this rainwater into potable water.01/20/2022 02:27:05

This dataset contains all public responses to the CDP-ICLEI 2021 Cities questionnaire. All data included in the dataset is self reported by cities. The reporting platform remains open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.
Please note that this dataset exceeds the capacity for Excel. To export the data to Excel, the dataset has been separated into three files. Please follow the links below to access these:
