Esse hábito, atualmente, é um problema crônico. Quando esse resíduo atinge o sistema de drenagem, pode ocasionar obstrução de canais e o aumento da frequência de inundações, assim como a alteração da qualidade dos corpos d´água devido ao elevado tempo para sua decomposição , como é o caso dos plásticos, e também a passagem de animais aquáticos. Quando seguem o percurso do rio, terminam sendo desembocados no mar, ocasionando assoreamento; impedindo o desenvolvimento dos manguezais; prejudicando a fauna, como quando são ingeridos acidentalmente ou quando um saco se prende no pescoço de um animal e provoca seu enforcamento; contaminando as águas dos estuários; propiciando a propagação de vetores transmissores de doenças e dificultando as atividades de esportes náuticos e turismo.O gerenciamento desses resíduos, normalmente, é realizado por meio da limpeza física das áreas atingidas. Além do custo elevado, é uma solução temporária e de difícil efetividade. Portanto, o adequado gerenciamento deve iniciar com a prevenção quanto à geração de resíduos, cuja responsabilidade é de todos os cidadãos e do Poder Público. Nenhuma política pode ter real efetividade sem a adesão e participação da população.Paralelo à atuação das ações municipais de resíduos sólidos, estima-se a instalação de ecobarreiras. As ecobarreiras são obstáculos físicos feitos de material flutuante, instaladas próximas à foz de rios e córregos, e que representam uma maneira alternativa de despoluição do curso das águas de rios e canais através da contenção de resíduos sólidos provenientes da ação antrópica no meio ambiente. Apesar de reconhecer que a implantação desses equipamentos não pode ser vista como objetivo fim por se tratar de uma maneira paliativa de lidar com a questão dos resíduos que vão parar em corpos d'água, é possível encontrarmos casos de sucesso de sua aplicação em outras cidades do Brasil.Além de seu efeito paliativo na coleta dos resíduos flutuantes, as Ecobarreiras têm um papel significativo para a educação ambiental. Trata-se de uma ação de educação ambiental itinerante para dar visibilidade às problemáticas dos resíduos sólidos nos rios, permitindo campanhas de sensibilização na cidade. A metodologia prevista para sua aplicação prevê a formulação e a execução de alternativas eficazes de recuperação e estruturação dos ecossistemas da região de forma integrada e participativa com o meio e comunidades locais, contando, também, com ações educativas. Desta forma, buscará disponibilizar um ambiente harmônico e equilibrado para que a sociedade possa usufruir de forma responsável, bem como a melhoria da qualidade de vida e desenvolvimento sustentável das comunidades e populações envolvidas.Desta forma, este projeto foi idealizado com o objetivo principal de remover uma parcela do lixo flutuante presente nos rios da cidade, tanto através de sua coleta direta, quanto através da redução do aporte de lixo emitido pela população. Ainda, o projeto tem por finalidade reter significativamente o aporte de resíduos sólidos nos rios canalizados Arruda e Jordão, nos bairros de Beberibe e Boa Viagem, além das canaletas de águas pluviais que deságuam no Açude de Apipucos.Com essas ações, além da recuperação desses ambientes, espera-se promover condições para o desenvolvimento harmônico de organismos aquáticos, gerando ambientes ecologicamente equilibrados.01/20/2022 02:27:05
