StrategyClimate actions4.7iPlease provide details of your climate actions in the Waste sector.4Action description8Install municipal recycling points or centers (for residents or businesses)The Victorian Government is making significant investments to expand Victoria’s network of recycling infrastructure and waste collection points. The Victorian Government has invested $56 million through the Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund to help local industry improve the quality of materials recovered and increase the capacity and capability of Victoria’s resource recovery sector. The Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund (RVIF) materials stream provides funding for infrastructure targeting priority materials, such as paper and cardboard, plastic, and glass and organic waste. So far, the Victorian Government has allocated $20.11 million for local infrastructure projects from this fund. Though the RVIF, the Vic Government will also leverage an additional $35 million in co-investment from the Commonwealth Government through their Recycling Modernisation Fund to boost Victoria’s recycling capacity. The Victorian Government is also supporting the establishment of more recycling infrastructure in rural and regional Victoria, including:•up to $20 million to support rural and regional councils to provide households with access to glass, food organics, and garden organics collection services through new or upgraded recycling transfer stations or drop-off facilities.•targeted investment of $40.9 million over four years to establish regional small material recovery facilities and optimise Victoria’s resource recovery and transfer station network, to support opportunities for increased local manufacturing and reduce household costs of transporting waste and recycling.•Under the Resource Recovery Infrastructure Fund and E-waste Funds the Victorian Government has funded $16.6 million into 148 local government projectsVictoria’s Container Deposit Scheme will also establish collection points throughout Victoria where Victorians will be offered a refund on every eligible bottle or can returned to these collection points. These initiatives will collectively drive-up recycling capacity in Victoria to support the Recycling Victoria target of 80 per cent waste diversion from landfill by 2030.01/14/2022 02:51:32
