Water is also incorporated into CDP’s supply chain program. In this initiative, large multinational companies (our Supply Chain Members) issue CDP’s water questionnaire to a number of their suppliers. This exercise allows companies to investigate the water risk in their supply chain and gather vital information about water use outside their direct operations.

This year, we have invited approximately 2,300 companies to respond to CDP’s water questionnaire through our investor and supply chain initiatives. This data set excludes private responders.

This dataset comes from question W3.2d asking companies to list the inherent water risks that could generate a substantive change in their business, operations, revenue or expenditure, the potential impact to their supply chain and the strategies to mitigate them.
