Through our investor initiative we target the largest listed companies in the world, as determined by market capitalization, in sectors for which water is a material issue. We currently cover the Global 500, S&P 500 and FTSE 100 indices as well as the largest companies in Australia, Japan and South Africa.

Water is also incorporated into CDP’s supply chain program. In this initiative, large multinational companies (our Supply Chain Members) issue CDP’s water questionnaire to a number of their suppliers. This exercise allows companies to investigate the water risk in their supply chain and gather vital information about water use outside their direct operations.

This year, we have invited approximately 2,300 companies to respond to CDP’s water questionnaire through our investor and supply chain initiatives. This data set excludes private responders.

Scope 1 and 2 emissions from 482 of the largest 500 companies in the world by market capitalization. Also contains CDP response status. The dataset includes information on a company's sector, country and response status as well as the ticker symbol and ISIN number. For disclosing companies, information includes CDP Disclosure and Performance scores.

CDP's water program motivates companies to disclose and reduce their environmental impacts by using the power of investors and customers. The data CDP collects help influential decision makers to reduce risk, capitalize on opportunities and drive action towards a more sustainable world. This dataset comes from question W3.2d asking companies to list the inherent water risks that could generate a substantive change in their business, operations, revenue or expenditure, the potential impact to their supply chain and the strategies to mitigate them.

CDP’s forests program targets the largest companies globally, collecting data on their management of deforestation risk through the lens of key agricultural drivers of deforestation (timber, palm oil, soy, cattle products & biofuels). In 2015, 700 companies are requested to respond to the program. The request is issued on behalf of 298 investor signatories with $19 trillion in assets.

Dataset on corporate commitments, standards and targets reported in 2013 related to the key agricultural drivers of deforestation. This dataset excludes private responders.

Please note that not all companies report on all forest risk commodities. This may be due to the company submitting a partial disclosure or because only a limited number of the commodities are relevant to their business.
