The inventory covers the entire Town of Vail as well as operations of Vail Resorts on Vail Mountain, which operates on National Forest lands through a special use permit. Vail has also participated in an Eagle County GHG Inventory since 2014. The 2018 City-wide Vail GHG Invetory will essentially serve as the baseline inventory as Vail works to reduce GHG emissions as established in the Climate Action Plan for Eagle County, which Vail adopted in 2017, including a 25% reduction in GHG emissions by 2025 and an 80% reduction by 2050. In 2021, Vail adopted the Climate Action Plan 2020 Update for Eagle County, which added a benchmark goal of 50% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 in addition to the above stated goals.
