Opportunities6.2aPlease provide some key examples of how your city collaborates with business and/or industries in the table below.3Description of collaboration1Via the Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme, Richmond successfully bid for funding from the Government to provide support with energy efficiency and low-carbon heating to low income households in the most energy-inefficient homes. This is separate from the cancelled national Green Vouchers Scheme. The scheme is being delivered through a partnership with a not-for-profit cooperative, Retrofit Works (RW) who are local specialists in retrofits. The council handle a majority of the administrative tasks for the scheme. RW contact the interested residents, conduct housing surveys , and talk through the options for what improvements can be done and when. Upon resident decision and agreement, Retrofit Works will arrange delivery of improvements to homes.RW use existing relationships with local contractors and surveyors to gain access for installations, negotiating good prices and providing information to residents. This work provides local jobs to local people and uses Trust Mark services only.
137217848474Richmond CouncilUnited Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern IrelandEurope6. Opportunities6.2aPlease provide some key examples of how your city collaborates with business and/or industries in the table below.3Description of collaboration2The council was successful in its bid to the Energy Saving Trust’s E-cargo Bike Grant Fund Local Authority Scheme. The scheme aims to support businesses and organisations to make the switch from delivery vans to help reduce traffic and improve air quality, whilst making solid financial sense. The scheme involves the purchase of E-cargo bikes for use by businesses and organisations in each borough. The electric cargo bikes will replace journeys previously carried out by vehicles. The work included a project to involve the promotion of scheme to potential clients, assessing applications, selecting equipment, processing purchases, and arranging delivery, along with monitoring and promotion of the scheme in order to showcase e-cargo bike use for local deliveries. The organisations receiving bikes in the borough include:•The Council’s Inspection and Enforcement team•The Council’s Trees team•The Council’s Libraries team•The Tapestry Tapas Bar•TAG Youth Club for Disabled Young People (charity)•Environment Trust•Friends of Heathfield Recreation Ground and Environs•Leigh Gardens•Scent of Blooms•Achieving for Children•Barnes Community Association•Sheen DelicatessenThese organisations are demonstrating that the use of these bikes is both financially sensible as well as reducing traffic and improving environmental impacts. The example will hopefully result in the use of E-cargo bikes being scaled up and more widely adopted across the borough. As part of the Clean Air Villages, the council works in partnership with the Cross River Partnership and 11 other London boroughs to tackle last mile delivery emissions from high streets. In addition it works with Mytown to provide last mile ecargo bike solutions for local residents and shops.

The bridge would improve the health and well-being of local communities and visitors, overcoming the severance effect of the River Thames. It would reduce the relative isolation of Ham and encourage greater levels of physical and economic activity. It would reduce travel times and bring more homes and jobs into reach. It would reduce local dependency on motor vehicles in an area that currently has high dependency, enabling a sustainable recovery and contributing to cleaner air. It would provide an exemplar environment for walking and cycling and not suffer from the traffic and amenity problems common to current river crossings. In a recent consultation, 82% of respondents indicated support for a new bridge, and 94% of these favoured the location between Twickenham-Ham.
