It will include:1.The construction of 17km of flood defences, from the M5 crossing over the Avon along the coastline to Aust in South Gloucestershire. These defences will better protect the Enterprise Area and nearby residential populations (Avonmouth, Severn Beach, New Passage) from tidal flooding, ensuring a reasonable standard of protection (1 in 200 annual chance) until the end of the century, including the projected impacts of climate change.2.The construction of wetland habitats (scrapes, ponds and pools) on Hallen Marsh and at Northwick to provide habitat for qualifying species for the Severn Estuary SAC (predominantly for over-wintering birds). The habitats both mitigate for the existing and future development of the Enterprise Area and also mitigate for loss of habitat due to sea level rise and coastal squeeze.

Adaptation3.0Please describe the main actions you are taking to reduce the risk to, and vulnerability of, your city’s infrastructure, services, citizens, and businesses from climate change as identified in the Climate Hazards section.8Action description and implementation progress3The plan will identify the potential solutions and strategies to build Bristol's resilience to heat stress. The plan will utilise the city’s Heat Vulnerability Index to provide evidence on why and where heat stress is likely to be worst and how mitigation should be prioritised. It will provide a clear linkage between problem areas, key Council functions and possible adaptation solutions. The plan will include, shorter term actions, including guidance on the improvement of the city’s preparedness and response to heatwaves. It will also include guidance on other longer-term mitigation measures, for example, on UHI reduction, spatial planning and building upgrades.
