Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.4Description of metric / indicator used to track goal1LPG, which is one of the high carbon emission fuels used in Gaziantep in 2015, accounts for approximately half of the greenhouse gas emissions from all residential buildings of imported and domestic coal.Access to natural gas of all buildings on the border of Gaziantep will be provided by the investor company in the short term after the reference year. While natural gas use in residential buildings was around 20% in 2015, it is expected that this ratio will be between 75% and 80% in 2030. Since the contribution of natural gas to greenhouse gas emissions is at least twice as low per unit of carbon emissions from solid fuels such as coal and wood, this measure will contribute significantly to reducing emissions throughout the province.Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality will give particular importance to informing the public about the transition of building owners from natural fuels such as coal and wood to the use of natural gas and to search for opportunities to develop incentives. In addition, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality will evaluate the development and implementation of measures such as the inclusion of natural gas use in urban regeneration project plans for obtaining building use permits and in order to remove obstacles to private building owners during the transition to natural gas. With this change in fuel type, which will be developed by 2030, it is predicted that approximately 445,800 tCO2e / year emission savings will be achieved. GAZDAŞ's infrastructure investment is estimated at a total of $ 1.2 billion (up to 2035 with an estimated investment of $ 520 million). Based on the prices in 2015, depending on the number of floors, the average initial investment for an apartment with approximately 100 m2 usage area for private residential building owners varies between TL 4,000-12,000 (project drawing, gas opening, natural gas installation, boiler and radiator) materials and crafting).

Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.4Description of metric / indicator used to track goal2In the 2015 reference year, the greenhouse gas emissions from lighting are estimated to cover approximately 60% of 585,278 tCO2e / year, which is an estimate of greenhouse gas emissions from total electricity consumption. As a result of replacing the existing lighting elements in residential buildings with efficient devices such as LEDs, which are planned to be realized gradually and to be completed by 2030, it is estimated that it will save approximately 260,000 MWh / year of energy and 130,000 tCO2e / year of emission.
15218550203Gaziantep Metropolitan MunicipalityTurkeyEurope3. Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.4Description of metric / indicator used to track goal3The place of greenhouse gas emissions from domestic hot water use in total 2015 greenhouse gas emissions from residences is determined as 4.5% according to the building energy simulations developed. Although it does not have a large proportion of total greenhouse gas emissions, it is recommended that this energy consumption be met more by means of solar thermal systems since the potential of utilizing solar energy is high in Gaziantep province.Gaziantep province of Turkey is located in the most fertile regions of the solar map, the amount of solar radiation per square meter per year 1600-1650 kWh / is determined as m2yıl. Therefore, solar thermal systems to be made to pay back the investment in time will also be above the average of Turkey.By 2030 target year, according to the scenario where approximately 80% of domestic hot water production in houses is supplied from solar energy, a reduction of 39,000 tCO2e / year is foreseen in greenhouse gas emissions in 2030.With the expansion of solar thermal systems in the houses that are planned to be realized gradually, it is predicted that by 2030, approximately 130,000 MWh / year of renewable energy usage and 39,000 tCO2e / year will be saved according to the current energy consumption in residential buildings.
15218650203Gaziantep Metropolitan MunicipalityTurkeyEurope3. Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.4Description of metric / indicator used to track goal4It is foreseen that by 2030, approximately 44,000 tCO2e / year will be saved from greenhouse gas emissions from electricity and natural gas consumption in commercial and public buildings.
15218750203Gaziantep Metropolitan MunicipalityTurkeyEurope3. Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.4Description of metric / indicator used to track goal5With the small investments to be made in the street and general lighting systems within the responsibility of the municipality, the use of energy efficient luminaires saves up to 45% on average. There is a transition to LED luminaire applications in the renovation of lighting systems in Gaziantep. However, numerical data regarding the current situation and plans could not be reached. Although the exact number is not known, considering the average lifetime of the luminaires, it is possible to replace the entire lighting system with energy efficient ones by 2030. 56,382,873 kWh / year energy saving and 27,910 tCO2e / year emission reduction are envisaged.
15218850203Gaziantep Metropolitan MunicipalityTurkeyEurope3. Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.4Description of metric / indicator used to track goal6It is envisaged that the rail systems, which will be put into operation gradually, will provide a total energy saving of 151,317,952 kWh / year and emission savings of 39,896 tCO2e / year compared to bus usage by 2030.
