Please also select the most relevant assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard and provide a description of the impact.12Please describe the impacts experienced so far, and how you expect the hazard to impact in the future1Lima region produces half of the drinking water nationwide, but about 30% of it is lost due to deficiencies in the water network and clandestine connections. For this reason, the cost of drinking water per inhabitant in Metropolitan Lima is high according to the recommended standards. It is important to bear in mind that consumption only reflects those who have a meter since, as is known, almost a third of the inhabitants of Metropolitan Lima lack a home connection. On the other hand, balancing the increase in the demand for water resources with the sustainability of the planet is one of the main challenges facing humanity in the coming decades. Given this need, different methodologies, approaches and indicators have been developed to assess the impacts of the use of fresh water. The development of the Water Footprint concept has been an important step in that direction. The Municipality of San Isidro has carried out the calculation of its Water Footprint, both at the district and institutional levels, as a tool for decision-making that allows it to reduce the impact and improve the efficiency in the use of this resource. Specifically, for the realization of the first district Water Footprint it has been classified into 3 sectors: residential, non-residential and green areas within its scope. As a result, it was obtained that the District's Water Footprint amounts to a total of 106 113 330.7 million cubic meters for the year 2015, which is equivalent to filling the National Stadium with water nearly 70 thousand times. This volume of water represents 13% of the Water Footprint of Metropolitan Lima while its population represents only 0.6%.Likewise, at the beginning of 2020, the third calculation of the Water Footprint of the district for the year 2017 was carried out following the same methodology of the baseline study. As a result, it was obtained that the District's Water Footprint amounts to 114,485,541.1 million cubic meters for that year, and an increase of 7.6% compared to 2015 (baseline). Thus, it is observed that water consumption in the district of San Isidro is not reduced over the years.

Climate Hazards and Vulnerability2.1Please list the most significant climate hazards faced by your city and indicate the probability and consequence of these hazards, as well as the expected future change in frequency and intensity. Please also select the most relevant assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard and provide a description of the impact.12Please describe the impacts experienced so far, and how you expect the hazard to impact in the future2In 2017, Metropolitan Lima has suffered more intense heat waves in the last 19 years, whose most affected districts are far from the Lima coast. According to Senamhi, the thermometers of the meteorological stations read close to 32 degrees Celsius, especially in the eastern part of Lima, with the hottest districts being La Molina, San Juan de Lurigancho, Santa Anita and Ate Vitarte, while the least They are on the west side of the capital where the sea acts as a thermoregulator.Heat islands in Metropolitan Lima are produced by the following factors: the presence of bare hills, with a dark-colored surface, with thermal and calorific properties that heat up more than urban materials during the day. According to the bibliography consulted, this effect corresponds to temperate, tropical, semi-arid and arid climates, and occurs mainly during the morning. Metropolitan Lima has this type of climate.Likewise, according to the Ministry of Health, high temperatures during the summer bring with them health risks, with children and the elderly being the most vulnerable.Although the district of San Isidro is geographically located in the central area of Metropolitan Lima, it is not ruled out that it may suffer from heat waves due to the change in temperature caused by Climate Change.

Please also select the most relevant assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard and provide a description of the impact.12Please describe the impacts experienced so far, and how you expect the hazard to impact in the future3Due to its proximity to the sea, the district of San Isidro has winds ranging between 4 to 5 m / s according to the Wind Atlas of Peru of the Ministry of Energy and Mines. These winds are only seen in the area of the boardwalk while, the rest of the district, the wind is attenuated due to the urbanization and the wooded margin that serve as a protective screen.

Climate Hazards and Vulnerability2.1Please list the most significant climate hazards faced by your city and indicate the probability and consequence of these hazards, as well as the expected future change in frequency and intensity. Please also select the most relevant assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard and provide a description of the impact.12Please describe the impacts experienced so far, and how you expect the hazard to impact in the future4Large areas of Metropolitan Lima are at risk from the eventual rise in sea level due to Climate Change. In the coming decades, if the climate crisis is not slowed or mitigated, the coasts of the districts of Callao, Ancón, Barranco, Chorrillos, Lurín, Chilca, etc. they will be flooded at least once a year. The district of San Isidro registers a coastal strip of 0.8 km represented by cliffs. These, according to the latest reports, would have retreated about 15 meters (Alonso, 2020). Although the district is also at risk from the eventual increase in sea level due to the melting of the glaciers, it presents a natural barrier, the cliffs, which would avoid the negative effects of said increase. However, the retreat of the cliffs due to this increase in the sea would affect the houses located along the coastal strip.Regarding coastal erosion, the phenomenon of erosion is rare on the slopes that surround Metropolitan Lima. However, erosion can be observed on the cliffs of the Costa Verde.Three types of erosion have been identified on the Coast: slope erosion, river erosion and marine erosion; The first of them being a phenomenon that occurs in San Isidro due to the passage of sea waters on the slopes and can precede other processes such as landslides. On the other hand, the erosion of slopes is associated with materials prone to disaggregation such as weathered, altered and highly fractured rocks or loose rock fragments devoid of vegetation. It is necessary to specify that, in the Costa Verde sector of the San Isidro district, the best examples of caving are produced, which are generated in the cliffs. This process has already affected some buildings built in the upper part (INGEMET, 2015).In addition, at the level of territorial planning instruments, the San Isidro District Urban Plan 2012-2022 does not specify the use of the cliff area to carry out constructions.

Please also select the most relevant assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard and provide a description of the impact.12Please describe the impacts experienced so far, and how you expect the hazard to impact in the future5The district of San Isidro, due to its proximity to the sea, faces intense drizzles (garúa) which generates floods, some overflows, vehicular congestion, pedestrian accidents, damage to the huacas and historical monuments. For the latter, these drizzles are harmful since the material from which the historical material is made is adobe.Regarding the waterways, the district of San Isidro has irrigation channels that allow the excess water to change direction. However, due to the overflow itself, the humidity caused by the water makes the tracks and sidewalks slippery, which represents a danger for residents and visitors. On the other hand, the San Isidro district has two archaeological monuments, neither of which has a protocol for prevention, protection and recovery in the event of landslides caused by rain. This protocol cannot be developed without the direct participation of the Ministry of Culture, the governing body.

Climate Hazards and Vulnerability2.2Please identify and describe the factors that most greatly affect your city’s ability to adapt to climate change and indicate how those factors either support or challenge this ability.4Please describe how the factor supports or challenges the adaptive capacity of your city2Local government resources are determined by the services it provides. They generate little to be able to carry out investment projects in technologies for adaptation to climate change, and their borrowing capacity is limited by the regulations themselves. Despite the fact that there is a good tax reduction in the district, external financial support was required in order to comply with the proposed adaptation measures.

However, the municipality does not have the competence to provide specialized care in the face of the increase in respiratory diseases due to the increased vulnerability of some climatic hazards. For this, the medical support of the national government is required when these types of diseases occur.
