13756860392Municipalidad de San Isidro (Lima)PeruLatin America3. Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.7Comment146 parks enabled with technical irrigationThe municipality of San Isidro currently has a technified irrigation system which supplies class 3 water to 13 parks in the district. Regarding the modernized irrigation system, the municipality's source of supply is the water from the treatment plant distributed through the network of canals and stored in underground cisterns that are part of the system. Its operation is based on the fact that the technified irrigation system has a machine room where the irrigation head and the electric pumps that distribute the water through the pipe network to the sprinklers, sprinklers and drippers are installed.Currently, there are 13 parks in the district (28% of the existing ones in total) that have a technified irrigation system, such as: the Bernales boardwalk, El Olivar forest, Grecia, Guatemala, Belén, Alayza, Antequera, Quiñónez, Santa parks Rosa, Gandhi, central berms in Arequipa, Guardia Civil and Pérez Araníbar avenues. For example, the measure seeks to enable technified irrigation systems to 5 additional parks that do not have this system of the 46 parks that exist in the San Isidro district, whose development will run until 2023. The latter are located in the Talamantes parks de Baeza, Alberto Hurtado, Miguel Dammert, Mariscal Gamarra and General La Fuente. Also, the implementation of modernized irrigation systems to the central and lateral berms is projected, while a design that allows incorporating modernized irrigation and underground wiring is still pending financing. It should be noted that this measure will not generate any co-benefit with another hazard identified in the district.

It participates in the cleaning campaigns of the Surco and Huatica canals during the dry season, organized by the Surco River Irrigation Board outside the district's jurisdiction. It is proposed to develop a cleaning and maintenance plan for the gutters and channels that exist in the district in order to ensure the flow of water during rainy seasons. The development of said Plan is in charge of Green Areas, an area that plans to generate them at the beginning of the second semester of 2021. Specifically, the installation of underground pipes and the fitting of concrete irrigation boxes are sought in order to gradually replace the Open pit irrigation canals, which will improve irrigation efficiency, mitigate watering in avenues and streets, reduce man-hours used for cleaning and maintenance of these, perform better vector control and improve the landscape aesthetics of public green areas.
