To fulfill the needs of clean water, Bontang City currently relies heavily on underground raw water sources for residents and for industrial purposes where continuous groundwater extraction makes it less environmentally friendly because it will cause a decrease in ground water level which will eventually lead to water intrusion the sea.Bontang City does not have a surface water source that has a large enough flow to serve the daily needs of the community. The biggest source of surface water in the City of Bontang and guaranteed to continue to exist is sea water, which is currently not maximally utilized. Sea water can be used as a source of raw water to be used as clean water through a desalination process. Construction for the desalization of seawater is very necessary to overcome the dependence of ground water which has been used for raw water. | |||
