The efficiency classes of these motors vary as IE1, IE2 and IE3.As a result of the researches, it has been determined that 8.5% of the electrical motors used in the manufacturing industry have IE3 efficiency, whereas 30.5% of them have IE2 efficiency and the remaining 61% of them have IE1 efficiency.Activities of Mitigation/BenefitsCommunique on Environmentally Sensitive Design Requirements for Electrical Motors" was published in the Official Gazette dated February 7, 2012. According to this communique, the use of high electricity consuming motors will be gradually reduced. The relevant articles of the communique are as follows:(1) As of 1/1/2015, the efficiency of motors with rated output power between 7.5 kW and 375 kW will not be lower than the IE3 efficiency level defined in Article 1 of Annex-1 to this Communique or it must meet the IE2 efficiency level defined in Article 1 of Annex-1 to this Communique and it must be furnished with variable speed drive.(2) As of 1/1/2017, the efficiency of motors with rated output power between 0.75 kW and 375 kW will not be lower than the IE3 efficiency level defined in Article 1 of Annex-1 to this Communique or it must meet the IE2 efficiency level defined in Article 1 of Annex-1 to this Communique and it must be furnished with variable speed drive.Significant energy savings can be achieved when the above-mentioned regulatory requirements are taken into account by increasing the efficiency classes of the motors. Replacing the existing motors with IE4 class motors will result in less electricity consumption for the same shaft power and it will thus result in a reduction in the carbon emissions.

These electro-jet fans provide blowing and/or suction on the yarns treated in weaving machines, rings, bending and bobbin winding machines to ensure that the quality of the product is of a certain standard. However, it was observed that the electro-jet fans were idle during the tests.Electro-jet fans proceed on two separate rail systems. They perform linear reciprocating motion on some machine lines, whereas on some lines they switch to different lines with a half-circular trajectory. It passes over the machine bed on the lines, where linear reciprocating motion is performed and where there is no product; whereas the fans continue to work in the empty area, where there is no product, during shifting of the lines, also on the lines that are switched on a circular trajectory.Activities of Mitigation/BenefitsThe idle operation of the fans can be avoided by the revision to be made in the machine's software or by the time limit relay which can be integrated on the fans.Significant amounts of energy will be saved as a result of such an application.During the line change, the fan motors are turned off to avoid electricity consumption, while the jet-fan continues on the rail. Then, it will be re-engaged to perform its duty, when it gets to the beginning of the line.

Emissions Reduction | 5.4 | Describe the anticipated outcomes of the most impactful mitigation actions your city is currently undertaking; the total cost of the action and how much is being funded by the local government. | 12 | Action description and implementation progress | 38 | 30% of the manufacturing industry companies that operate in Gaziantep use LED, 30% use mercury vapor, 30% use fluorescent and 10% use metal halide lighting luminaries. The share of lighting in plants' electricity consumption is often low. It has been determined as a result of the previously conducted surveys and researches that approximately 2% of the plants' electricity consumption is consumed for lighting.Researches revealed that 76.3% of the energy consumed for lighting (in terms of kWhe) is used in the sectors of Textile, Footwear and Goods Derived from Leather Textile, 14.5% is used in the sectors of Chemical, Plastic, Porcelain and Similar Products, 8.2% is used in the Food Products sector, 0.9% is used in the Building Arts and Building Materials sector, and 0.1% is used in the sectors of Stationery, Photography, Media and Publishing.Activities of Mitigation/BenefitsReplacing existing lighting luminaires with high-efficiency (Lumen/Watt) lighting luminaires will lead to consumption of less electrical energy for the same luminosity. Thus, the luminosity values will not be reduced, which is critical in terms of occupational safety. The efficiency value of each lighting luminaire is different. Therefore, the savings that will arise as a result of relacing the existing lighting luminaries with LED luminaires will vary.1. Mercury Vapor luminaire – Rate of savings when replaced with LED luminaire: 65%2. Fluorescent luminaire – Rate of savings when replaced with LED luminaire: 35%3. Metal Halide luminaire – Rate of savings when replaced with LED luminaire: 45% |
