Se estima que estos eventos de olas de calor y precipitaciones extremas se volverán más probables con el paso del tiempo, por lo que es de suma importancia modernizar el sistema de monitoreo para así contar con información confiable que permita la prevención de riesgos.

Adaptation3.3Please describe the main goals of your city’s adaptation efforts and the metrics / KPIs for each goal.7Comment2El municipio de Zapopan es uno de los municipios que conforman la ZMG, las características particulares en su geografía puede presentar anomalías en peligros y riesgos en su territorio, cuenta con extensas áreas naturales, y con una extensión de zona urbana bastante considerable. El municipio es vulnerable ante los posibles efectos del Cambio Climático. Durante años se ha visto azotada por inundaciones y últimamente por olas de calor agresivas, estos eventos podrían agravarse ya que una gran parte de la población puede ser vulnerable ante estos fenómenos, sobre todo los que viven en urbanizaciones irregulares, personas de escasos recursos, a las orillas de ríos y de laderas. Es importante actualizar el Atlas de Peligros y Riesgos del municipio para la oportuna localización de zonas de riesgos y grupos vulnerables para así generar resiliencia ante estos peligros que enfrenta el Municipio.

Además, el calentamiento global acelera el desarrollo del virus, amplía la zona de influencia del mosquito y su capacidad de adaptarse a temperaturas más frías. Los vientos, la temperatura y el régimen pluvial son factores decisivos para su propagación. El AMG es uno de los municipios con más casos a nivel nacional, por lo tanto Zapopan es un foco rojo para la propagación de este peligro que debe de atenderse de inmediato.

Puede acarrear un retroceso en los niveles de desarrollo humano en todos los países, especialmente en aquellos en desarrollo y en las comunidades más pobres y vulnerables. Por este motivo y porque los impactos del cambio climático son diversos y complejos, la población debe tener conocimiento acerca de este fenómeno, sus causas, sus consecuencias, y la forma de mitigarlo o bien de adaptarse a él. La educación ambiental puede coadyuvar en aportaciones individuales y colectivas para reducir emisiones de compuestos de efecto invernadero, generar menos residuos, así como ahorro de agua y energía, entre otros.
