17847742384Göteborgs StadSwedenEurope12.3Does your city have any policies relating to food consumption within your city? If so, please describe the expected outcome of the policy.2Please describe the expected outcome of the policy1Please completeThe city has a meal policy for meals bought, cooked and served within the city organisation: in kindergartens and school for children ages 6-18, retirement homes, etc.The city of Gothenburg is to work for a long term sustainability when it comes to food and food services within the city's influence. That means that food is to be sustainable throughout the chain from production to waste when it comes to environmental as well as health and social aspects.By consciously choosing the correct foods and adapting purchases to the seasons, it is possible for the city to have a positive impact on the food industry's development. Foods that are produced, transporter and prepared in the least environmentally destructive way possible leads to decreased environmental impact, resource depletion and benefits biodiversity. The city of Gothenburg is a large consumer of food and thus an organisation that can drive meaningful change. Currently a new meal policyis under development.
