At the same time, the district emits approximately 1.714.702 tonnes of the greenhouse gas CO2 which represents approximately 3,27 tonnes CO2/capita/year. (Population of Kadıköy is 524.373, in 2010)Reduction RecommendationBuildings: According to the information obtained from Kadıköy Municipality City Information System, there are 28885 buildings in the district and 84% of them are in residential use. When the consumption figures obtained for the buildings are examined, it is determined that the country is above the consumption figures. This is an indication that the socio-economic status of the province is above the country average. 64% of total greenhouse gas emissions come from buildings. For this reason, the Law on the Conversion of Areas Under Disaster Relief, numbered 6306 and the Energy Efficiency Law No. 5627 to be developed in accordance with the conditions of the country and the regulations issued within the scope of these laws shall be based on the provisions of the circular and the proposals for measures to be developed in the direction of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; It is thought that the district will have an important and effective role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.Lighting: Rapidly developing technology offers low consumption solutions in lighting systems for reducing energy consumption. In this context, the use of innovative systems is thought to be beneficial for reducing electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in park lighting that is located within municipal jurisdiction and causes greenhouse gas emissions.Transportation: Municipality of Kadıköy Since the end of 2012, some innovative projects have been passed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by transportation at the institutional level. Given the district's total greenhouse gas emissions, the most important greenhouse gas emissions after the buildings (35%) are due to transportation activities. Kadıköy Municipality, a district municipality connected to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, does not have any authority in terms of public transportation. However, the projects developed by the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Communications for the purpose of minimizing the use of private vehicles (bicycle route, Etc.) are expected to provide substantial reductions in district greenhouse gas emissions.Awareness Raising: Increasing social awareness to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, changing the unconscious consumption habits, efficient use of energy and making life a consciousness are thought to create positive results in short and long term.

Of this quantity, 95,875 tons (6.35%) are directly caused by the Municipality's organizational operations. Figure 3-1 gives the distribution of greenhouse gas emission inventory in Kadıköy by scopes. 28.5% of the total inventory represents greenhouse gas emissions associated with electrity consumptions. While Scope 1 emissions, accounting for 64.5% of the total inventory, represent fuel consumptions in all buildings and industrial facilities as well as during urban transportation, Scope 3 represents greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater and mass transportation facilities remaining within the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Municipality (Details pages 12 to 15 in the Report 1)
