In 2017, Over 120 cities used the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories (GPC) methodology to calculate their emissions. This is a 70% increase on the previous year. Explore cities emissions inventory data to better understand what cities are managing.

In 2016, cities reported over 2,000 climate hazards that are impacting their cities. Globally, cities are reporting that health and community will be most impacted by climate change.

The dataset contains 2021 data on cities' climate hazards, reported by cities through the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System in response to question 2.1 (" Please list the most significant climate hazards faced by your city and indicate the probability and consequence of these hazards, as well as the expected future change in frequency and intensity.") in the 2021 Cities questionnaire. Cities house half the world’s population but represent almost two-thirds of global energy demand and 70% of carbon emissions from the energy sector. Therefore, our cities have a vital role to play in the transition to a sustainable economy. This dataset provides information on the electricity, heat, steam and cooling consumed by local governments. The question in the 2017 CDP Questionnaire was as follows: "How much electricity, heat, steam, and cooling (refers to Scope 2 emissions) has your local government purchased for its own consumption during the reporting year?"

This dataset contains public responses to the 2020 Cities Questionnaire for cities that cited 'budgetary capacity' as a barrier to adaptation in question 2.2 - 'Please identify and describe the factors that most greatly affect your city’s ability to adapt to climate change and indicate how those factors either support or challenge this ability.'

CDP’s forests program targets the largest companies globally, collecting data on their management of deforestation risk through the lens of key agricultural drivers of deforestation (timber, palm oil, soy, cattle products & biofuels). In 2015, 700 companies are requested to respond to the program. The request is issued on behalf of 298 investor signatories with $19 trillion in assets.

Please note that not all companies report on all forest risk commodities. This may be due to the company submitting a partial disclosure or because only a limited number of the commodities are relevant to their business.
