This dataset presents the actions being taken in response to urban risks to water supply as reported by cities in the 2018 CDP Cities questionnaire. Details of each action alongside the risk it is addressing is included. For responses to other questions in 2018, please view the 2018 Full Cities dataset.

This dataset contains cities' responses to the 2022 CDP Cities Questionnaire. All data included in the dataset is self reported by cities. Please note that the reporting platform remains open for submissions until the end of the year; the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions. Guidance on how to read this dataset is available in the Open Data Portal User Guide (under Explore in the header bar). Please note that this dataset exceeds the capacity for Excel. To export the data to Excel, the dataset has been separated into three files. Complete open data set for companies that responded to the 2014 water questionnaire.

Through our investor initiative we target the largest listed companies in the world, as determined by market capitalization, in sectors for which water is a material issue. We currently cover the Global 500, S&P 500 and FTSE 100 indices as well as the largest companies in Australia, Japan and South Africa.

Water is also incorporated into CDP’s supply chain program. In this initiative, large multinational companies (our Supply Chain Members) issue CDP’s water questionnaire to a number of their suppliers. This exercise allows companies to investigate the water risk in their supply chain and gather vital information about water use outside their direct operations.

This year, we have invited approximately 2,300 companies to respond to CDP’s water questionnaire through our investor and supply chain initiatives. This data set excludes private responders.

Housing 50% of the world’s population, cities are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts. In 2017, some 380 cities disclosed their adaptation actions through CDP. Explore how these cities are building resilience to environmental impacts.

In 2016, over 3,000 city-wide mitigation actions were disclosed. Cities are taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in cities. Activities are tagged by sector and cities provide detailed descriptions of each activity. Some cities also provide estimates of the total anticipated lifetime emissions that will be reduced from each activity.

This dataset contains 2021 data on cities emissions reduction targets, as reported by cities through the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System in response to questions 5.0a-d in the 2021 Cities questionnaire.
